Make Snacking Interesting & Engaging -- Homemade Tomato Ketchup

Tomato ketchup available in the market tastes good but most of them are with sugar, artificial flavors & preservatives. Sometimes mothers hesitate before giving it to their little ones and avoid giving ketchup at all until the little ones can grab the bottle by themselves.

Well, now you can prepare tomato ketchup at home. Take a look at the recipe below,

Ingredients:
(1) Ripe Tomatoes (2kg)
(2) Medium Sized Onion (1 piece)
(3) Cloves & Garlic (3-4 pieces)
(4) Olive Oil (as required)
(5) Sindhav Salt (as per taste)
(6) Black Pepper (as per taste)
(7) Ground Mustard (5g)
(8) Paprika (5g)
(9) Apple Cinder Vinegar (as required)

 

Cooking Method:
1) Wash tomatoes properly, peel the skin & remove seeds and cut them into pieces.
2) Take a large saucepan, add olive oil, and turn on the flame. Add chopped onion, and minced garlic and saute until the most part is diluted and turns extra soft.
3) In the saucepan, add tomatoes, salt, black pepper, paprika & ground mustard. Mix all properly and adjust the taste by adding the required ingredient/s.
4) Allow mixture to simmer on a low flame for 50-60 minutes. Stir occasionally. Once done, put the saucepan aside. Allow the mixture to cool down.
5) Once cooled down, transfer the mixture to a blender and blend it to get a smooth paste.
6) Keep the saucepan on a low flame and add the blended paste. Add apple cider vinegar and allow the paste to simmer for 25-30 minutes. Stir occasionally. (If required, adjust the taste as per liking by adding salt/paprika/jaggery)
7) Check for the required consistency (sauce thickness). Once the paste reaches the required consistency, move it down from the stove and let it cool.
8) Once cooled down, transfer it to an airtight glass bottle. Store in refrigerator.
9) Serve when needed and put it back in the refrigerator. Before serving, check the taste. (Shelf-Life: 7-10 Days if stored well in a good condition)
